French boatbuilding giant will offer European dealers the chance to develop the boat club franchise.
Freedom Boat Club (FBC) has signed an agreement with Jeanneau to develop Freedom Boat Club franchises across Jeanneau’s European dealer network. The Florida-based company has 150-plus locations in the US and Canada with fleets of boats used by club members. FBC is one of the largest corporate buyers of new boats in the US. It markets itself as a member-based alternative to full or partial boat ownership.
CEO John Giglio said its franchise model will be offered to Jeanneau dealers in Europe, with outboard-powered Jeanneau boats as the backbone of its fleet. “Our Jeanneau European alliance grew out of a strong relationship with the Groupe Beneteau brands here in the US, as a growing number of our franchisees have placed Jeanneau, Four Winns and Glaston outboard boats in their fleets,” said Giglio. FBC recently launched its franchise model in Europe. “Jeanneau and its dealers clearly understand and embrace the benefits of the sharing economy, and the boat club model specifically,” said Giglio.
The company expects to announce multiple Freedom Boat Clubs in France this spring, with others to follow in other European countries. “The boat clubs are a real trend that our dealers are keen to develop,” said Jean-Paul Chapeleau, Jeanneau CEO, in the statement. “For Jeanneau dealers, it’s a unique opportunity to benefit from an experienced partner while launching this new service to our customers.”
