Freedom Boat Club Lake George, the Diamond Point boat club owned by Rebecca and Matt O’Hara, will host “Boating Big! All Aboard for the Littles” on Sunday, September 10 as part of its support for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks.

Big brothers and big sisters and their matches will be taken out for a ninety-minute boat ride with a Freedom Boat Club captain, giving them an opportunity to see and learn about Lake George and boating, said Rebecca O’Hara.

Last year, Freedom Boat Club donated $500 to Big Brothers Big Sister of the Southern Adirondacks.

“We have been so pleased to see the joy that being on the water brings our members, and am excited to be hosting an ‘All Aboard for the Littles’ event so ‘Bigs’ and their ‘Littles’ can experience that same joy,” said Rebecca O’Hara.

“Rebecca and I were both ‘bigs’ in Boston, and it is an incredibly impactful program,’ said Matt O’Hara.

This year, the second year of its partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Freedom Boat Club Lake George will donate $100 for every new member recruited through Columbus Day.

Bill Moon. Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks, said, “Through our partnership with Freedom Boat Club, many of our Littles will have the opportunity to experience Lake George from a private boat for the first time. By raising funds and hosting our matches they are truly making a difference in the lives of young people around them. Together we are providing opportunities to the youth in our communities and we are thrilled that Freedom Boat Club has so generously and enthusiastically joined our mission.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters representatives will be on site at Beckley’s Marina providing information on how to become a Big.

According to Matt O’Hara, Freedom Boat Club franchises throughout the US and Canada raised $61,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters last year.

“We are really happy that Freedom Boat Club chose this organization to partner with. We can really make a difference in these kids lives!” said Matt O’Hara.
